Just
imagine the unique opportunity to take a trip back into time and stroll
through six museums in the Historic Old Town district. These beloved
museums will allow you to get a true grasp of the art and culture in
Albuquerque.
I recommend starting with my favorite museum. The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History.
This museum will lavish you with art of the Southwest and the History
of Albuquerque dating back 12,000 years when the Anasazi Indians settled
in the area. This art museum features works of Albuquerque artisans,
history exhibits, traveling exhibitions, a sculpture garden, gallery
store and a casual cafe. This museum is a relaxing and educational
experience for all.
Red Lopez and His Men
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science
explores the natural history of New Mexico. Visitors will see huge
dinosaur skeletons recovered from the deserts of New Mexico, walk
through an fictitious ice cave and volcano!
This museum is a great adventure for your group or family.

The Explora Museum is
here too! A hands on museum full of wonders and mind charging exhibits.
Features hands-on displays in science, technology and arts. Children
and adults will be delighted with each exhibit project. One of my
favorites is the bubble table. The most amusing display to me is the air
born bike ride. I did not try it but it sure looked like a lot of fun!
The Rattlesnake Museum has
the worlds largest varied species of rattlesnakes. Even if you are
afraid of snakes you will be sincerely amused by the artful display of
these rattlers.
The Turquoise Museum Rare
& spectacular turquoise specimens from around the world. You will
experience displays of geology, history, mythology and lapidary. The
Turquoise Museum is the repository for a mind-boggling collection of
turquoise. Little pieces, huge pieces, veined, smooth, carved, blue, and
green. There's raw turquoise, fresh from the wall of a mine, and
polished turquoise. There's turquoise in cases from more than 60 mines
around the world. Gift shop on site. www.turquoisemuseum.com
